We’re Hiring — Put People First in Policing

York Regional Police (YRP) is looking for the next generation of Police Constables. Keeping our communities safe takes a diverse team with a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, skills, and perspectives, all working toward a common goal.

YRP is hosting a 20-metre shuttle run (beep test) session. This is an opportunity for prospective applicants to test their fitness and see if they can meet the minimum requirement of Level 7, a key standard for police constable applicants.

Overview

The 20-metre shuttle run is a mandatory component of the police constable hiring process and is used to assess cardiovascular fitness. Participants must achieve a minimum of Level 7 to meet the standard. Candidates who reach Level 7 or higher will be issued a Fast Pass certificate, valid for six months, which may be used to bypass the fitness component of the hiring process.

What to Expect

  • York Regional Police recruiters will administer the 20-metre shuttle run
  • Participants will complete the test under the same core standard used in the hiring process
