Join York Regional Police in honouring and remembering members from police services across Canada who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community.
The 48th Annual National Police and Peace Officer's Memorial will be held in Ottawa on Sunday, September 28.
Sworn and civilian professional members are encouraged to attend.
Weekend Details
Saturday, September 27
Members are invited to welcome participants of the Ride to Remember and Run to Remember at Parliament Hill at 3 p.m.
Members are invited to the Chief's Social Reception at the Rideau Room at the Sheraton Hotel located at 150 Albert Street from 6 to 9 p.m. The Chief's Social Reception will include live entertainment from the YRP band, and refreshments.You must register to attend.Click here to register.
Sunday, September 28
York Regional Police Members will be mustering on Wellington Street, between Kent and Lyon Streets in front of the Supreme Court building at 8:30 a.m. in Column E.
The parade and service will be conducted rain or shine. Water will be available at the mustering point and on the front lawn. Portable toilets will also be available.
National Memorial pins will be available for all members at the Chief's Social Reception. Limited quantities will also be available at the mustering point from the Protocol Officers.
Dress Attire
Sworn members are expected to be in full #1 Dress. Gloves and headdress will remain on throughout the service. See the attachment for reference.
Civilian Professional members are expected to wear conservative business attire as referred to in AI-376. Conservative business attire refers to suits or suit separates, dress shirt, tie, dress pants or shirt, appropriate outdoor footwear. No sunglesses are to be worn, unless necessary for medical reasons. No umbrellas allowed. See the attachment for reference.
Accommodations
Hotel accommodations are the responsibility of members. Active YRPA members can be reimbursed up to $200 for fuel or one night's stay (September 27.) Funding forms and receipts must be submitted to accounting@yrpa.ca.
